Some of the secret iMessage features you never knew existed

Apple’s iMessage is an all-in-one messaging solution used in mobile or laptops. The message App on iPhone, iPad or Mac is usually used for sending iMessage to friends and family members.

But that’s not all; Apple also offers many special features in the iMessaging app that remain unnoticed by many users. Find Someone’s location

On any Apple device running messages, clicking or tapping details will show the location of contact in the device. You may find this option when you tap details in messages.

If however someone doesn’t agree to share their location with you, there won’t be a map of their location. In iOS, if you want to share your location with a person, you may select Send My Current Location. And if you want them to even know your later locations you may tap either, Share for One Hour, Share Until End of Day, or Share Indefinitely.

Do Not Disturb

If someone is disturbing you while you are busy and don’t want any disturbance you may go for this option. It allows you to mute a particular contact that is bothering you. You won’t receive any notification they send you via messages.

Filter out unknown contacts

This iMessage feature let you filter out the individuals that are in your contacts list by having hold of your iMessage email address. From Messages entry in the settings app you may activate Filter Unknown Senders. This will filter all the people and make a separate column in iMessage.

Keep your audio and video messages

iMessage also has option to add audio and video clips to the conversational threads. Though iOS will delete these files over time in order to save space on the device, you can keep them by going to the messages part of the Settings app and change the Expire option from 2 minutes to Never.
