Microsoft Pushes New Photos app in Windows 10

With Windows 10 release, many features are being highlighted one of them is new Photos app. This feature does much more than just displaying your picture as a slideshow. This is a default app that organizes your pictures by date taken, creates a curated album automatically, features a few nice editing tools for image enhancement and lets you share pictures via social networks and email.

This article will help you to experience the new Photos app in Windows 10:

Collection and albums:  Collection and Albums are two main sections in Windows photos app. In collection section, you’ll see a collection of all your photos that are grouped by date taken. 

Note: If you want to quickly find photos then click or tap on a date to zoom out to a list of all past months.

In albums section you’ll find albums that the photos app creates for you automatically, which based on date taken, location and possibly facial recognition create albums.

Add a folder:  By default, all photos are saved on your OneDrive pictures folder. To add another folder to the Photos app, open the app, go to settings and under the Sources section, click or tap Add a folder. Now find the folder you want to add, select it and click Add This folder to Pictures.

Note: If you don’t have your One Drive photos show up in the Photos app, go to Settings and turn off “Show my photos and videos from OneDrive”.

Edit and enhance: The new Photos app also has a feature for editing that includes filters and enhance button. Follow these steps to edit a photo in the new Photos app:

• First click on the photo to open it and click the pencil icon to open the editing platform.

• Now on the left side, you will see different categories: Basic fixes, filters, light, color, and effects.

Note: All these different categories have different functionalities, which let you tap and enhance your photo as per your requirement.

At top of the screen you can see the compare button that will help you to compare your original image with the edited one. The top menu also has undo/redo button if you don’t like the editing and want to change it.

Share your pictures:   This feature is pretty simple than any other, thanks to Windows 10 share toolbar. With this features you can share individual photos or several photos at once. Go to the collection section and click “select” at the top of the screen. Select the photos that you want to share with share button that appear at the top of the screen.
